Hi everyone, I am writing to invite you to join our March for Babies Family Team (Gianna May's Team). We're walking in honor of Gianna who was born 10.5 week premature. Most people don’t realize what a devastating problem prematurity is: that it’s the leading cause of newborn death; that it has reached epidemic proportions; and that the rate is escalating. To be a part of our team, give me a call or visit http://www.marchforbabies.org/s_team_page.asp?si=&SeId=1372272and sign up today! As most of you already know, the March of Dimes was a huge help to us when Gianna was in the NICU. They provided support in many ways including teaching me about surfactant when I was on bed rest, giving Gianna her first preemie outfit and visiting daily just to check in. They helped make Gianna's NICU stay survivable. Last year we walked with a friend's team, but this year we would really like to have our own team and have as many people as possible to walk with us. The walk is on May 1 this year at Oakledge Park in Burlington. If you can't walk, we would appreciate your donations! In just a few weeks Gianna will turn 2 and it is in part due to this amazing organization! Please consider helping in any way you can.
Thanks! Christine, Andrew and Gianna

02/15/10 Watching the Winter Olympics
I have been watching the winter Olympics and was so happy to see Vermonter Hannah Kearney win the first gold medal for the United States. I heard that Hannah has been invited to throw out the first pitch at the Red Sox first home game against the Yankees in April. (Doesn’t April seem so early to start playing baseball?) I also watched Apollo Anton Ono win the silver medal in a crazy race in which two of the three leading skaters wiped out on the final turn, opening the way for Ono to take the silver; very exciting stuff. The opening ceremony was nice, too bad the Georgian bobsledder had to go and die, can you imagine sledding down a hill at 90 mph, scary.
02/06/10 A Night at the Opera
I live very close to the San Jose opera house and one day, last month, while out walking I noticed a poster advertising their next opera, “The Marriage of Figaro,” by Mozart. I was intrigued and copied the information down. On February 6th I decided to go to see if I might like it, and I did. The opera house is beautiful; I had been there before to see the San Jose Symphony perform “The Four Seasons,” by Vivaldi. And, the show was very entertaining. I loved the classical music and the plot of the story was enjoyable. What I liked most was how, in many scenes, the actors would each sing their lines at the same time. They sang in harmony but they were not singing the same words. They were each singing their own part, but the words overflowed each other. Sometimes 3 or 4 people would each be singing something different, but all at the same time, and it sounded wonderful. It was like 4 musicians playing instruments together, but their instruments were the words of their character. I thought it was genius and I loved it. Next year they will be doing “The Barber of Seville,” which is the prequel to, “The Marriage of Figaro.” I think I would like to see that too.
1/23/10 Happy 90th Birthday Gram
Grandama Sheehey celebrated her 90th birthday at a wonderful party, held in her honor at the Clarion Banquet Room in South Burlington. I wish I could have been there.
The First Family and Friends Interactive Poll
Speaking about women we admire, according to Gallup, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the Most Admired Woman in America, barely edging out Sarah Palin, 16% to 15%. Oprah and our first lady Michelle Obama finished third and fourth respectively; followed by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Queen Elizabeth II. I am excluding Grandma Sheehey from the SealeyFamily.com poll because she would win, no contest. However, among the top finishers from the Gallup Poll, who do you admire the most? Submit your vote and find out what the rest of the Sealey and Sheehey families think.

Family and Friends Interactive Project
Do you remember the Family and Friends interactive projects from simonsealey.com? We did a family and friends favorites photos page, and we did a Family and Friends CD, with each song chosen by our family and friends. The CD was a great success, I discovered some great songs in that project. Does anyone still have a copy? I would like to list the songs.
I would like to begin working on the first family and friends interactive project for the SealeyFamily.com website. It is going to be a slide show of everyones favorite photos from PD. Your mission, if you chose to accept it, is to send me some of your favorite photos from PD. We have been going to PD for four years now. I'm sure everyone has some great pictures. I posted a couple of mine the Photos section, sub-page, Best of PD.

New Sealey Family Website takes off
Now that I have decided I am not interested in going to medical school, I have had a lot of free time on my hands. I feel so much more relaxed and happy. In my spare time I have been working on this new family website. As you might remember, I stopped working on SimonSealey.com a couple of years ago when I went back to school; I had no time to work on the website. I missed creating the website. It is something I enjoy doing. The new SealeyFamily.com website is going to have lots of news, photos, stories, and lots of great stuff. I hope that you will all enjoy visiting SealeyFamily.com
did you see the intro video?
08/07/09 A New Champion is Crowned
A new champion was crowned this year at the PD World Croquet Championship. Defeating both previous champions, Xavier and Joyce, in the final round of play, Simon is the 2009 Croquet Tournament Champion. Meg and Martin also made it into the final round. This year a new trophy was awarded to the anual tounament's winner, adding to the tournament's prestige. The Championship Belt was also awarded to Simon. The new Champion, thrilled to accept his awards, said, “this is the greatest feeling in the world, I have been trying to win this for three years. My life's work is complete.” Some of the other players participating this year were, Margaret and Larry, who both played well but fell short of making the final round, and Myiah and John, who also played good games.
