7/15/10 I am moving to Santa Cruz
I am moving to Santa Cruz, Ca. I will be renting a 600 square foot guest cottage from a friend of mine. It is about 2 miles from the ocean, and 45 minutes from Stanford. The cottage is in back of her house in a quiet family neighborhood. Its hidden away from the street behind vine covered fences and lots of trees. The cottage also opens into an outdoor room that is covered in vines and lattice. The whole scene is very green, very cozy, and very private.
I found some great rocks last week when I went exploring down the coast. I drove from Half Moon Bay to Santa Cruz. This stretch of highway 1 is beautifully undeveloped. There are no liquor stores, gas stations, strip malls, box stores, dealerships, restaurants, police stations, homeless shelters, Wal-Marts, nor Starbucks, for the 40 mile drive. The road winds along the coast and every few miles there is a new beach. Some are isolated and beautiful. The coast is so lovely. I am finding great places to take visitors. I feel like I am getting a better feel for the rocks, this stack was my biggest yet.
Feeling exhausted from hauling rocks down the beach, I found a nice sunny spot to sit down and relax and listen to the waves. I was quite a distance away from my art work, but I could still see it in the distance. When, to my wonder, I watched a seal climb out of the ocean and crawl up to my balancing stack of rocks. He sat in front of it for a moment, and then he moved on. I wished I was closer so I could have gotten a picture of the seal next to my project. Later in the day, a human stopped and took a picture of my stack of rocks, I loved seeing that.

7/04/10 The First Picture of the Universe
“There is no end. There is no beginning. There is only the passion of life.”
- Federico Fellini
Today, scientists published the first picture of all of existence. It was taken with a camera positioned a million miles out in space. The image depicts light particles as they looked 14 billion years ago. Some have called it our universe's baby picture. It shows a time 300,000 years after the singularity. Aparently, this is the moment when the universe cooled enough for electrons and protons to form hydrogen. Do you know how much God loves this picture? He has a poster of it on his living room wall, in a very nice frame. If you come to the Bay Area, I recommend you see the planetarium show at the California Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. It helps put our human place in perspective and its fun.

"You know I love you, I always will. My mind's made up by the way that I feel, there’s no beginning, there’ll be no end cause on my love you can depend"
